Rustic Lighting

Antler Chandeliers--is that the distinguishing factor for traditional log home lighting? Antlers have been a part of log home lighting and rustic lighting for many years; however, if you are not comfortable with using the real materials, there are numerous antler chandeliers available which are made of a resin material. Antlers made of resin are an excellent option, less expensive, and look like the real rustic lighting thing!

What about the ceiling fan light fixture? Many people cannot do without a ceiling fan, especially in the heat of summer. Others, however, feel one should stay away from the ceiling fan look if they want to preserve the log home feeling and tradition. It's a matter of personal preference; either will provide that cozy cabin ambience.

Other rustic lighting options include wall lamps and sconces. Both provide soft wall and area lighting. There are a great number of rustic wall lamp styles to choose from that complement any type of log home or cabin decor.

Rustic lights should be placed liberally in log homes or cabin decor to provide a warm glow to the home.

Tip: If you are building a home, be sure to add more rustic lights than you think necessary. After the home is built, it is more difficult and expensive to add permanent rustic lighting.

If, however, you find your log home lacking in sufficient rustic lighting, don't forget about the abundance of rustic floor and table lamps available to complement any cabin, lodge or lake home decor.
